We sat in the sun at the Edge,
cosier than July, and the view
was clear to Shutlingsloe, and the dew
steamed off the grass like will o’ th’ wisps
rising to play on a Sunday morning
with the children who ran and whispered
and hid and fell and made wands
out of sticks; and above our heads
the sky was Alderley orange
and the beech leaves were blue.
